🤔

Which sin is more damning?

Forgivable or unforgivable sins?

According to Christ, the only unforgivable sin is blasphemy against the Holy Spirit.

This is also called the unpardonable sin or the eternal sin.

Matthew 12:31-32: "And so I tell you, every kind of sin and slander can be forgiven, but blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven."

Mark 3:28-29: "Whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven; those blasphemers are guilty of an eternal sin.”

What does blasphemy mean?

Blasphemy involves showing great disrespect, contempt, or lack of reverence toward the Lord, Holy Spirit, or sacred objects.

Blasphemy also includes a persistent, unrepentant heart and attributing the Lord's goodness to wickedness.

Which is more damning and unforgivable?

Blasphemy or desecration of the temple of the Holy Spirit?

Desecration is considered blasphemy and involves heinous acts of intentionally violating, damaging, or defiling someone's body.

If the greatest unforgivable sin is desecrating the temple of the Holy Spirit and is therefore the most damning, why is it not treated with the greatest accountability and seriousness?

Ultimately, sins of desecration also lead the sinner's heart to become impure, preventing the ability to see the Lord and enter heaven.

Why do societal laws, cultural and religious views not reflect just how grievous, heinous, and damning the unforgivable sins are, especially when violating a person and desecrating the temple of the Holy Spirit?

From Google search:

*Persistent Unbelief & Rejection:

Many theologians view it as a hardened, unrepentant heart—a continual rejection of God’s grace until death. Since forgiveness is only possible through the conviction of the Holy Spirit, persistently rejecting that Spirit means you cannot receive forgiveness. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

Attributing God's goodness to evil is another perspective, defining it as knowingly and willfully attributing God's visible work to darkness—calling good, evil.

** 1 Corinthians 6:18-19:

18 Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body.

19 Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own.
