Violence has no place in civil or political discourse.

Yesterday's early morning tragedy in Minnesota involving State Representative Melissa Hortman and her husband should never occur again to any lawmaker, regardless of their political affiliation.

Let us act with determination, honor, and peace as we work to resolve the challenges facing our world.

We must provide solutions that truly address the problems we face, rather than simply masking them or resorting to violence and ignorance.

Violence does not solve anything.

This is not who we are, and it is not who we should aspire to be.

Let us strive then to be peacemakers and honor our forefathers who sacrificed and gave their lives for peace, for freedom, and for democracy.
