Let's take a moment to reflect on a time when we naturally came together to support and assist victims of natural disasters.
In the past, the media would be full of calls to help non-profit organizations like the Red Cross, with donation information displayed at the bottom of the screen.
Today, however, disinformation and misinformation are so abundant (see FEMA rumor response)*that we must address them before we can effectively provide the necessary help to those affected.
Because the victims need to know where to apply for further assistance and that the money has not run out at FEMA.*
We spend too much time and energy combating falsehoods instead of focusing on the emergency and providing people with the support they need.
Let's not lose sight of the importance of donating to organizations such as the American Red Cross and other relief agencies to aid the victims of Hurricane Helene.**
Help out and donate today.
