🤔
Why have there not been any prophets since biblical times?
*According to major religious traditions, there are no longer universally recognized prophets like those in the Bible because divine revelation is considered complete and preserved in sacred scripture.
The Completion of Scripture
• Finished revelation:
Mainstream Christian theology teaches that God's message was fully expressed and finalized through Jesus Christ and the writings of the New Testament.
• No further need: Because believers now possess the completed Scripture as a standard for faith and practice, authoritative, foundational prophets who bring brand-new truths are no longer necessary.
• The Jewish perspective: In Judaism, traditional teaching holds that the era of formal prophecy (the spirit of prophecy) concluded with the final early prophets (such as Haggai, Zechariah, and Malachi) at the dawn of the Second Temple period.
ðŸ’
Therefore, for Judaism, formal prophecy ended 430 to 520 years before Jesus Christ.
And for Christianity, aside from Latter-day Saints, formal prophets were no longer recognized after the early churches and Jesus Christ because revelation is considered complete and preserved in the Bible.
Let us first define the meaning of the prophet.**
In the Bible, a prophet is a person chosen by God to serve as His spokesperson and direct representative on earth.
Core Meaning and Words
• Spokesperson for God: The Hebrew word for prophet is navii, which means one who is called to bubble forth or utter a message. The Greek word prophetes means someone who speaks out or interprets the will of another.
• Other Titles: Prophets were also called "seers" (ro'eh or hozeh) because they received divine visions, or "men of God" (ish-ha'elohim).
Main Roles of a Prophet
• Forthtelling (Truth-Telling): Most of a prophet's work was speaking God's truth to the people of their own time. They called out sin, condemned idolatry and injustice, and urged people to obey God's laws and care for the poor.
• Foretelling (Predicting the Future):
Sometimes God revealed future events to prophets. This included warnings of coming judgment or promises of a future Savior and peace.
• Acting as Ambassadors: They carried divine authority, meaning they did not share personal opinions. Instead, they delivered the exact message God gave them, often starting with phrases like "This is what the Lord says."
True vs. False Prophets
• True Prophets: Were directly called by God, filled with the Holy Spirit, and spoke messages that always aligned with God’s revealed truth.
• False Prophets: Claimed to speak for God for personal gain, power, or popularity, telling people what they wanted to hear rather than the truth.
✴️
For there not to be a prophet since biblical times means that, since then, God has stopped choosing a person to serve as His spokesperson and direct representative on earth.
How likely is it for the Lord to stop communicating with us, stop having a direct representative during each Age?
And just because the churches do not formally recognize prophets, does this mean that they stopped coming to humanity?
Finally, how would we know the Second Coming of Christ is near or even here, or, importantly, recognize the Antichrist falsely presenting himself as Christ?
Over two thousand years have passed; why have we not become more enlightened in the teaching of Jesus Christ and fulfilled the prophecy that the meek shall inherit the earth (Matthew 5: 5, Psalm 37:11)?
Because the prophetic voices of the Lord have been silenced and overlooked, and closed off to the next stage of spiritual evolution: preparing for the Second Coming of Christ.
Much like John the Baptist prepared the way for Christ, we must also prepare the way for Christ and Jesus's Second Coming.
Otherwise, we would be easily led astray by the Antichrist and hinder Christ.
Churches have failed miserably to follow the natural progression of prophetic prophecy and to maintain continuous communication with the Lord and humanity, which is why some of the faithful believe that God is silent and does not communicate or intercede in human affairs.
Moreover, churches have failed to emphasize the utmost importance of purity of heart for seeing the Lord ( Matthew 5:8 ) and communication with the Lord through the Holy Spirit and enforcing divine law, especially when it comes to the desecration of the temple of the Holy Spirit.
For even if there are prophets in the world today, those who could have been prophets would be corrupted into impurities of heart, never to see or hear divine words or connect to the Holy Spirit, and therefore can never speak as representatives of the Lord.
Furthermore, the practice of not recognizing unforgivable sin as unforgivable and the bypassing of redemption through the forgiveness of sin prior to full repentance and atonement is completely unacceptable, for it completely prevents salvation.
In addition, the grievous malfeasance of teaching that we are all sinners when we are not all sinners, as we are not all liars, is complicity in sin, and again fails to emphasize the importance of not sinning and repenting and atoning.
📜✝️
We must prepare the way for Christ and the Second Coming, and begin to hear once again the Word of the Lord on earth.
The church must find and formalize prophets pure of heart who can see and hear the Lord and pave the way for Christ's Second Coming, discern and defend against the Antichrist, and teach new ways of understanding the Lord in spiritual enlightenment and purity of heart.
You will never know if you do not ask, seek, or knock ( Matthew 7: 7-12 ).
7 “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened. 9 Or which one of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent? 11 If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!
The Golden Rule
12 “So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.
