“The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.”
- Edmund Burke
When the wolf in sheep's clothing is exposed, and the harm inflicted on the innocent is revealed to be severe, it becomes the duty of every good citizen to defend not only those affected but also the institutions and values that the wolf aims to undermine under false pretenses (Matthew 7:15-20; Aesop's fable).
The danger of failing to protect against these wolves is that all the sheep may be consumed, leading to the destruction of the farm by the insatiable appetite of those who seek power through harm and destruction.
Therefore, standing idly by while ruin befalls the innocent, our culture, our society, and our church is an act of cowardice and complicity.
Whether we fear the wolf or not is irrelevant. What matters is that we do not yield to wolves in sheep's clothing, to the hypocrisy and corruption around us. Instead, we should faithfully uphold and defend the values taught to us by Christ and protect the innocent from harm.
Once we begin to lack integrity, grace, honor, and decency, we risk becoming the wolves dressed in sheep's clothing—pretending to be good and righteous when, in reality, it is all a façade.
This façade can represent an unreachable promise of salvation for the unfaithful, leading us not to peace and prosperity, but rather to damnation and ruin.
Therefore, let us be the Good Samaritans, help those in need, and defend against harm, injustice, and wolves in sheep's clothing who are intent on causing harm.
For it is only when we prioritize the Lord, Christ's teachings, and the fruits of the Spirit above the temptations of sin and corruption that we can truly fulfill and exemplify God's promise.
