We were forgiven for original sin when Jesus Christ died on the cross. 

However, any sin we accumulate after birth is our responsibility and remains unforgiven until we seek redemption through confession, repentance, and atonement.

We cannot receive salvation until we are cleansed and free from sin. 

In order to receive salvation, see the Lord, and enter heaven, we must have a purity of heart like that of a child.*

*Jesus stated: 

"Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven".

                                   –Matthew 18:3

"Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God”

                                   –Matthew 5:8
