How do families work?

Do parents and grandparents want the worst for their children and grandchildren?

Want their kids and grandkids to go to the worst schools, have the poorest futures, and not be able to provide or see to their needs?  

When under siege and the threat of war, not defend or protect their children or homes out of fear?
