Kindred,
Jesus Christ knew long before it happened what his self-sacrifice would mean; crucifixion, pain and suffering and death at the young age of thirty three.
He could have ran (away before the crucifixion), avoided His fate and calling, but Jesus did not.
In the garden (of Gethsemane), with great sorrow Jesus prayed three times for the Lord's will be done.
Matthew 26: 45
Then he returned to the disciples and said, "Are you still sleeping and resting? Look! The hour has come for the Son of Man to be handed over to the power of sinners."
Jesus had prophesied earlier during the Passover meal on the Festival of Unleavened Bread, that the traitor would betray him with a kiss; therefore, he knew even before the garden prayers, what was going to happen.
Yet, Jesus stayed the course.
He braved the Truth.
He sacrificed himself and died on the cross for our sins.
Today, we celebrate Jesus's sacrifice, His Teachings and His Love (for humanity).
