The framework of Democracy is spelled out in the Constitution, which is founded upon a system of checks and balances between the executive, legislative and judicial branches, for the purpose of forming "a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity*".
The framework of Christianity is founded upon the Trinity balanced upon the principles of love, hope, peace and joy for the purpose of serving the Lord, being stewards of the earth and receiving salvation (in the end)**.
The founding Fathers understood the temptations of power, human weaknesses in having absolute power; therefore, put in place checks and balances to prevent tyranny and abuses of power.
The founding Christians understood the temptations of sins, human weaknesses in indulgence of sins; therefore, put in place Commandments and Teachings to prevent damnation and abuses in sins.
Still temptations, abuses and corruption do occur. But in order to avoid the destruction of Democracy or Christianity, we have to hold to the principles spelled out in the framework (of Democracy and Christianity) and uphold its basic truths (in order to have designed and purposeful outcomes, such as salvation).
